Day 1-Cycle Zydeco-Lafayette to Breaux Bridge, LA- 46.3 miles with 538 feet of elevation.

A late roll out at 10 AM with massive police presence to get the cyclists out to the country. Brutally tough headwind going out of town most on a really rough frontage road but, with the best law enforcement support I had ever seen.

A Bubbafest attendee from last year

We got off the rough frontage road as we went into Broussard. It’s a lovely town. The headwind did not go away but the better pavement helped.

We left and got more into the country and farmland. WOW!

Rest stop at U of LA farm. Turned and headed for St. Martinsville.

St. Martinsville’s square down by the river. Blues, super home made food, a fundraiser for the local HS. Crayfish Etouffe, white rice and red beans with sausage. Bread pudding if you had room. Gib! Really nice people too!

I love this square.

On to Breaux Bridge through Bayou Teche.

Music by the river.

Great day riding and lunch with live blues. It was good to be Tres dog today Peace out.
