Paddle Florida 2019-Suwannee Paddling Festival

I left to pick up my good friend and great bowman, Chris Wilkerson, to paddle the wood tandem gem.

The traffic northbound was awful and set us into camp a little late.

A primitive supported paddle trip with you doing the camping work and Paddle Florida doing the support of hot food, river planning, shuttles if needed and this weekend they were, staff paddling with you and great evening programs.

The first night program had ex Paddle Florida board member and present Florida Paddling Trails Association president Jill Lingard. She gave a great talk about what FPTA does and how it can help your community. They are the organization that helps with the CT trail around the state of Florida.

It really rained, thundered and wild lightning. We woke up with a nice morning and a 12 mile paddle from Madison Blue Spring back to Suwannee River State Park on the Withalacoochee.

We were the first boat into the water and the river was beautiful.

We were treated to Kathryn Weaver’s folk music. She was great.

A nice night and good breakfast. We had another shuttle to Gibson Park for a 8 mile paddle back down to the park.

Great day on the river.

Takeout, pulled pork sandwich and sweet goodbye.

  1. Dawg, some cool pictures. You look like a River Rat in the picture with the paddle! Glad you had a good paddle.
