Day 8-Erie Canal State Heritage Trail-Little Falls to Amsterdam, NY-45 miles and 603 feet of elevation.

Editor’s note: Featured image today is in the same spot I took a picture while on the BAC’s 2021 Cooperstown ride lead by Ida and Jim Nystrom, 11 months ago. It was this 20 plus mile trail ride that wanted me to pursue a trip on the entire trail. Many thanks to Ida and Jim Nystrom.

October 2021

A beautiful cool sunny fall day to ride with a nice leisurely roll out. I was kitted up with warm clothes and was comfortable. It was an amazing day.

Little Falls

General Herkimer’s home and graveyard. Big stone.

Canajoharie.

I got off the trail and went to the Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site Visitors Center.

Amsterdam Castle our humble lodging. Lunch of 3 eggs on avocado toast & arugula. Coffee. Gib!

Stroll into town. A nice pedestrian riverfront walkway. A few pics.

Wichita Shocker’s Pizza

Another great day. The BAC ride leaders Chuck and Joan have gone out of their way to ensure such a wonderful trip that only locals could have provided for us. We finish in Albany tomorrow. Peace out Tres

  1. Great day! I can’t get enough of the architecture. I loved the Amsterdam Castle and the dinner hall. Ride on, Brotha!
