Day 11-Wallace, ID to Thompson Falls Montana-37 miles and 3500 feet of elevation.

A nice roll out of Wallace. It was Janet’s birthday and we all sang and gave her a present and card. An interesting and somewhat neglected side of Idaho. Very rural and old mine ruins.

It was at this point that the road really started to go up and it turned into gravel again. Remember gravel it’s a reoccurring theme.

The birthday girl , Janet and Fred

I estimated that I was able to ride 3 1/2 miles and had to walk the other 2 1/2 miles of this 6 mile gravel monster. Up we went to 5810 feet. It also seemed that at the summit we had crossed into Montana. There was the chant of hikers using whistles in the woods to warn the bears.

The descent would be double digits brutal and extreme. It was 4 1/2 miles of slowly going down stopping every few hundred feet to rest your brakes and hands.

It wasn’t until we got down toward the valley where I could start to descend more normally.

We got out to the road and a nice paved road to the barn. The hardest 37 miles I have ever done. Peace out Tres dog
