Bike Florida 2019-Brooksville weekend

I was to meet my C2C friends Rich and Chrysa in Brooksville for the weekend to get some riding in around this area on Bike Florida. First day short but good.

It was a beautiful day out to the Suncoast Trial after leaving some of the canopied roads outside of Brooksville.

Brooksville Hall of Fame.

Great lunch at Florida Cracker Cafe. The riding and weather has been great. 30 miles with 600 feet of climbing.

An ice breaker for tomorrow. Papa Jo’s Italian for dinner. Fabulous. Mariella sent me this picture of us at Bike Florida 2012 on St. George’s Island on the panhandle.

Day 2 had us going 47 miles with 1800 feet of climbing. The start out of camp put us on the Good Neighbor Trail.

This lead us to going south on the Withalacoochee State Trail. One of my all time favorites.

We stopped at Trilby Road and I knew what was next. HILLS. It was beautiful.

On to Myers Rd, three sisters onto Spring lake highway.

This lead to the second SAG at Boyette Grove or to us old local cyclists “Ice cream hill”.  We came back via the Good Neighbor Trail to Brooksville.

We had dinner at a local downtown seafood restaurant and it was great. Rainbow trout.

Day 3 had us going off route a little with a 50 miler on the Withalacoochee State Trail to Inverness and back.

Vinny Coyle of Wheeler’s Wheelman and SMBC took our picture. Jim Wheeler of the Village Idiots was leading a club ride that day on the trail as well.

We stopped at the Bike Florida SAG and in to Floral City and Inverness.

Another Bike Florida weekend in the books. It was such good weather. My friends made it that much better.

Peace out Tres

  1. It was great talking to you today. Do you sit up from the riding crouch and ride with no hands to take these photos? The beard is getting Letterman-ish! Cheers, Homer.
