Day 46: DeFuniak Springs to Marianna, Florida – 69 miles

A nice surprise last night with a guest C and W singer at the campground after the Sunset Park Women’s club fixed us a homemade baked pork chop dinner with pie. The park below.

We rolled out of Sunset Lake on a great asphalt road back to US 90. Wind was still so away we went into DeFuniak Springs and the oldest library in Florida.

The old southern Victorian style homes around the lake were beautiful. There was a Chatauqua Hall of Brotherhood that was now the Chamber of Commerce.

We headed out on 90 and first SAG at Caryville, Florida. Cool little city hall.

Some rolling hills into lunch at Chipley. Our friend the headwind picked up after lunch and we came into Marianna. I needed a haircut & beard trim and across the street was Plaza barbershop. The barber, Charlie, had been cutting hair for 49 years in Marianna. Nice guy and a real barber shop. Arrived at Greenwood RV park and jumped into the lake for the cool down.

Wife in Live Oak on Thursday. Thanks again for all the support.

  1. Homer, I wish you hadn’t trimmed the beard. That would’ve made a great before and after picture. Ride on Brother, Ride on!

  2. Wow! Almost Home Sweet Home! You have so much to show for the last 40-odd days, and I can’t think of a thing I have done 🙂
